Sat 8th Aug, Crinkle Crags

Today I am on Crinkle Crags, our route went from the Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel and into Oxendale before ascending steeply to Red Tarn. The summits were covered in low cloud when we set off but as the morning progressed the cloud gradually cleared to give some fine views. From here the route was much easier and a gentle inclined path led up to the first of the Crinkles. The route over the ridge was undulating with options for a few short scrambling sections. We chose to scramble over the “bad step” to reach the summit. Our descent route was from Three Tarns down the main path on The Band to the car park.
